48 Hours, No Media.

So when I first found out about this assignment I had millions of doubts that it would even be possible not because I couldn’t do it but because of my situation. I am a very social person and I am constantly on my phone, computer, or using some type of mediate source. Also, being away from home doesn’t help because that would be 2 days with no communication with those I love the most especially my daughter. I have not gone a day without speaking to her while being away so for me to have to go two days without speaking to her was a huge task for me. I can bet it was harder for me not being able to go home to my family and see them physically, a harder task then the ones that could. But then again it could have been a positive situation because I didn’t have to come home to people who could watch TV or play video games or even being on the computer. So I had full control over what took place. It was easy for me not to use twitter or watch TV or facebook or even play music. That was not a hard task even though I had thoughts. The hardest part for me during this time was that i could not use my cell phone. I am a text machine. I check my bill after every month just to see how many text I have sent and received and every month it is over 20,000 messages. I barely talk on the phone. All my conversations or the majority of them are through SMS. So this was by far the hardest part of the assignment. It wasn’t a simple assignment because so much technology is around that it’s almost impossible to go with out for 48 hours unless you’re a caveman. I enjoyed the assignment it puts a lot in prospective on what it was like in the past and how we as humans have adapted and became reliant on the use of technology.
